Communication Design becomes Intermedia Design! With the upcoming winter semester, our B.A. and M.A. degree programmes in Communication Design will be transitioned to the new programme Intermedia Design.

Applications for the B.A. Intermediale Gestaltung and the M.A. Intermedia Design will be possible annually from spring 2026 onwards. Detailed information on the application process and deadlines, examination regulations and module handbooks can be found on the following pages:

Applications can be submitted from January 15, 2026 via the application portal on the Folkwang website for the winter semester 2026/27 The application deadline is 15 March 2026. You can find more information in our degree programme brochure (German only).

Portfolio and Subject Advising

Prospective students have the opportunity to take part in a subject-specific advising session that includes a portfolio review. This gives applicants the chance to discuss their work with a lecturer before applying. These advisory sessions usually take place between November and February.
