The workshop "Poster Type Experiment" in July 2024 focuses on the analog manipulation of letterforms. A playful approach to the limits of legibility serves as the starting point for a poster inspired by the overarching theme of "music."
We experiment with different methods of stencil printing using wood type, in order to give each idea its fitting shape. Building on these explorations, participants develop their own individual poster, which is then printed in a small edition in two or three colors using proof presses.
Workshop leader Ruud Huysmans is a graduate of the Plantin Instituut voor Typografie in Antwerp. He works as a freelance graphic designer in the Netherlands and, alongside a wide range of commissioned work, is deeply passionate about hand composition and letterpress printing.
