For students in the Folkwang degree programs Photography, Industrial Design, Communication Design (prospectively Intermedia Design), as well as Art and Design Studies, the RUNDGANG is an important platform for presenting their work. Throughout Quartier Nord—the home of Folkwang’s design students—exhibits from a wide range of disciplines can be found in corridors and corners alike. The spectrum ranges from initial sketches and working approaches to fully realized projects.
The accompanying program includes lectures, workshops, dance and performance pieces, concerts, and a print and works sale offering student-designed posters, books, prints, T-shirts, and more. Proceeds from sales go directly to the students. For prospective students, the Rundgang provides an opportunity to gain firsthand impressions of the study environment and to engage directly with students and faculty.
The annual exhibition of the Department of Design is aimed at design enthusiasts, those interested in studying in the department, and anyone curious about everyday life at Folkwang University of the Arts. Admission is free.
The festive opening of RUNDGANG takes place on Thursday, July 17, starting at 7:00 pm. The exhibition can then be visited on Friday, July 18, from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm; on Saturday, July 19, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm (followed by the Rundgang party); and on Sunday, July 20, from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
