Claudius Lazzeroni

Professor of Interface Design

Born in 1965 in Bavaria to a German photographer and an Italian alchemist, Claudius Lazzeroni was raised with a Prussian discipline. Trained as a photographer, he later became a certified media designer and served as Creative Director at Pixelpark, where he worked on developing multimedia strategies for companies such as Oetker, Langnese, and Mannesmann. His independent company, “im stall”, was, for several years, a hub for personalities at the intersection of art and commerce.
Since 1999, he has been a Professor of Interface Design at the Folkwang University of the Arts, where he explores the dramaturgy of the in-between space in media and design.

He has co-authored key publications on generative design, including:
•    2009: Generative Design (German/French/English/Japanese) – Editor/Co-Author
•    2018: Generative Design P5.js (German/English/Japanese) – Co-Author

Awards: In 2019, he received the North Rhine-Westphalia State Teaching Award in recognition of his outstanding university teaching.

Artistic Research: Lazzeroni has also developed Solographs—self-regulating painting machines. More on his artistic work can be found at: www.solograph.de
